Those who attend upon this dharmya-amrita as I have spoken — with shraddha, mat-parama — those bhaktas are ativa — exceedingly — dear to Me. The verse names the chapter's whole teaching as dharmya-amrita, the dharma-natured nectar. The bhaktas who attend upon it with shraddha and mat-parama are not just priya but ativa priya.

Shankara reads the verse precisely. Dharmya-amrita — that which is dharma-natured and amrita-natured at once. Yatha uktam — exactly as it has just been declared in 12.13-19. Shraddadhanah — possessed of trust. Mat-paramah — holding Krishna as the supreme. Ativa me priyah — exceedingly dear. The chapter's superlative is reserved for those who actually live the portrait it has just drawn.

Madhusudana reads with characteristic warmth: the chapter is sealing the bhakta-portrait as not advisory but operative. The bhakta who lives 12.13-19 with shraddha is held in special priyata by Krishna.

Ramanuja reads with characteristic warmth: Bhagavan's ativa — exceedingly — names the relational closeness that is the chapter's true gift. The bhakta is not just receiving teaching; the bhakta is being held in special closeness.

Madhva reads on the bheda-frame: the eternally distinct jiva, living the bhakta-portrait, is held in svatantra Hari's ativa-priyata.

Vallabha reads through pushti-marga: the prasada's full flow has produced the dharmya-amrita condition; the bhakta is exceedingly received.

Shridhara reads cleanly: living this dharmya-amrita with shraddha and mat-parama orientation — exceedingly dear.

Advaita

When you commit to a single, consistent contemplative practice — reading the same text, sitting in the same inquiry — rather than sampling widely, you are enacting mat-paramah: making non-dual awareness the ceiling, not one option among many. The 'atIva priya' is not emotional reward but the recognition that you have stopped bargaining with reality.

Dvaita

Cultivate aastikyam — settled, evidence-based conviction that something greater than your own ego is at work — before undertaking any significant project. Madhva's shraddha is not blind faith but the grounded certitude that lets you act without constantly re-auditing your premises. Uncertainty is fine; shifting the foundation while building is not.

Bhakti

Shridhara's philological care — attending to textual variants, not collapsing ambiguity too fast — translates into daily life as the discipline of not resolving a hard question prematurely. When a relationship, decision, or text seems to have two incompatible readings, hold both with shraddha rather than forcing the one that is easier to act on.

Advaita-Bhakti

Madhusudana's point that the qualities of adveshtaa (non-hatred) and so on are natural marks of the self-knower — not practices to be effortfully produced — suggests a diagnostic: if these virtues feel like strain, they are still sadhana; if they feel like the texture of ordinary awareness, that is the real signal. Use the strain as information, not as failure.
