Bhagavad Gītā Chapter 10, Verse 37: Krishna to Arjuna — Vibhūti-Yoga
Among the Vrishnis I am Vasudeva, among the Pandavas I am Arjuna, among the sages I am Vyasa, and among the seers of far vision I am the poet Ushanas.
Bhāṣyakāra purports
- Śaṅkaraadvaita
Among the Vṛṣṇis I am Vāsudeva — your very companion here — and among the Pāṇḍavas you yourself, Dhanañjaya, are my vibhūti (divine manifestation). Among the munis (sages who reflect on all knowable objects) I am Vyāsa, and among the kavis (far-seeing seers) I am the poet Uśanas.
- Rāmānujaviśiṣṭādvaita
The fact that Bhagavān took birth as Vāsudeva, son of Vasudeva, is itself a vibhūti (auspicious divine attribute) — there is no other purpose for it. Among the Pāṇḍavas I am Arjuna; among munis (those who perceive the true nature of objects through manana) I am Vyāsa; and among the kavis (the discerning wise) I am present as the supreme.
- Madhvadvaita
Vāsudeva means the one who covers all, inhabits all, and in whom all reside — this name encodes that Hari alone is the independent, all-pervading reality. Vyāsa means the one who is distinct from (viśiṣṭa) everything, present everywhere simultaneously, as confirmed in the Mokṣadharma and the Āgniveśya-śākhā: 'Nārāyaṇa, pervading within and without, fills everything that is seen or heard in this entire world.'
- Vallabhaśuddhādvaita
Even among the Yādavas, the Lord declares his vibhūti-pervasion: 'I am the one characterized by the dharma of Vāsudeva-hood — born into that form, I am the one to be meditated upon.' For the Pāṇḍavas, Dhanañjaya is I myself, since Nara (Arjuna) is famously the aṃśa (portion) of Nārāyaṇa. Among the munis who contemplate the meaning of the Veda I am Kṛṣṇadvaipāyana; Uśanas is Śukra.
- Śrīdharabhakti
I am the Vāsudeva who is here teaching you; you, Dhanañjaya, are my very vibhūti among the Pāṇḍavas. Among the munis, those devoted to reflecting (manana) on the meaning of the Veda, I am Veda-Vyāsa. Among the kavis, the seers of poetic vision, I am the poet named Uśanas — that is, Śukra.
- Madhusūdanaadvaita-bhakti
It was stated earlier that even the Supreme Lord's own vibhūtis are included in this list so that He may be contemplated in those forms. Among the Vṛṣṇis, I am Vāsudeva — famous as son of Vasudeva — the very one who teaches you. Among the Pāṇḍavas, Dhanañjaya is I. Among the munis, even those of profound reflection (manana), I am Veda-Vyāsa. Among the kavis, the far-sighted discerners of subtle meaning, I am the one known as the poet Uśanas, that is Śukra.
