Fix your mind on Me, be devoted to Me, worship Me, bow to Me, and you will come to Me. I promise you truly: you are dear to Me.

Bhāṣyakāra purports

  • Śaṅkaraadvaita

    Fix your mind on Me — surrender the very faculty of intention to Vasudeva. Become My devotee, My worshipper; even your bowing let it be to Me alone, so that every means (sadhana) and every end (sadhya) is given over to the Lord. Having lived thus, you will reach Me — this I promise you truly; for you are dear to Me, and a true promise (satya-pratijña) cannot be otherwise for one whose every aspiration is surrendered.

  • Rāmānujaviśiṣṭādvaita

    Become one whose mind is pervaded by Me — the unbroken stream of loving memory (smriti-santana) of the kind prescribed in the Upanishads as vedana, dhyana, upasana. Your bhakti (devotion) is not mere sentiment but the fullness of sheshavrit (complete service-mode), your worship the supreme expression of that bhava. I promise you will reach Me — not as flattery (upacchandana-matra), but because your love for Me and My love for you are perfectly mutual: the one who loves Me supremely is supremely dear to Me, and I cannot bear separation from My beloved.

  • Madhvadvaita

    *Manmanā bhava* — let the *jīva*'s mind be wholly fixed on Hari, the *svatantra* (the independently real, self-sufficient) Lord. *Madbhakto* names *bhakti* (devotion) as the *jīva*'s ontological subordination to Hari, not mere sentiment. *Madyājī* — worship directed to Him alone, since *paratantra* (eternally dependent) existence finds its proper expression only in Hari's service. *Māṃ namaskuru* — prostration enacts the *pañca-bheda* (the five-fold real distinction: Lord–jīva, Lord–matter, jīva–jīva, jīva–matter, matter–matter) bodily: the *jīva* bows before the one who is categorically other and categorically supreme. *Māmevaiṣyasi* — the *jīva* arrives at Hari as a distinct, real person, not dissolved into identity; *satyam* marks the promise as Hari's *svatantra* will, unconditioned by any external necessity. *Priyo'si me* — the *jīva*'s dearness to Hari is a fact of *taratamya* (graded ontological hierarchy): Arjuna stands high in that hierarchy, and Hari's *svatantra* grace is the ground of that standing.

  • Vallabhaśuddhādvaita

    O Partha, fix your mind on Me alone — not alongside others, but exclusively (the 'eva' particle forbids any split of attention). Be My devotee alone, My worshipper alone: these three — mind, devotion, worship — cover the full triad of sacred activity (tri-kanda). I promise you in truth: you will reach Me, for you are My beloved. A beloved is never deceived; it would be beneath Me to mislead one I love. This is the supreme path of mukhya-bhakti (principal devotion).

  • Śrīdharabhakti

    Direct your mind to Me, let Me be your devotion, be fixed in worshipping Me, bow to Me — living thus, you will reach Me through the grace-born knowledge (mat-prasada-labdha-jñana) that My mercy kindles in you. Do not entertain any doubt here. You are My beloved, and so I make you a true promise — as things truly stand, so I declare: you will come to Me.

  • Madhusūdanaadvaita-bhakti

    Let your mind be fixed in Bhagavan Vasudeva with love (premna) — not in the cold knowing of an enemy like Kamsa who also 'thought of Krsna' through hatred. Be My devotee through anuragena (affection): devotion means the mind is made into Krsna-territory by love. Worship Me always; if materials for worship are absent, bow to Me with body, speech, and mind — this bowing encompasses all nine modes of bhakti (shravana, kirtana, smarana, etc.). Living thus, by the Vedanta-generated knowledge of Me, you will come to Me at the end of prarabdha-karma. This I promise truly, for you are dear to Me, and deceiving a beloved is unworthy of the Lord.
