Krishna says: Listen once more, mighty-armed Arjuna, to this highest word of mine, which I speak again out of love for your good.
Bhāṣyakāra purports
- Śaṅkaraadvaita
Śrī Bhagavān said: Once more, O Mahābāhu (mighty-armed), hear My supreme word (paramam vacah), that which reveals the unsurpassable reality (niratiśaya-vastu) — for you drink it like nectar (amrita-iva). I shall declare it again out of desire for your good (hita-kāmyayā).
- Rāmānujaviśiṣṭādvaita
Śrī Bhagavān said: Having heard of My greatness (māhātmya) and being delighted (prīyamāṇāya), O Mahābāhu — you who desire the good constituted by the birth and growth of devotion (bhakty-utpatti-vivṛddhi-rūpa-hita) — hear once more My supreme word that elaborates the full expanse of My greatness.
- Madhvadvaita
Śrī Bhagavān said: Hear once more, O Mahābāhu — for you who attain satisfaction (santoṣam prāpnuvate) upon hearing. This entire chapter declares Hari's vibhūtis (manifestations of divine excellence) and the principle that certain beings owe their distinctiveness (viśeṣaṇa-kāraṇatva) to Him, for the purpose of upāsanā (meditative worship).
- Vallabhaśuddhādvaita
Śrī Bhagavān said: Without being asked (anupṛṣṭaḥ), Hari himself once again declares His yoga-born splendour and vibhūtis for the increase of the bhakti already described — for the world that arises from sac-cid-ānanda is always of the nature of His Self (sadā-madātmakam). Hear, O Mahābāhu, My supreme word concerning the glory of My yoga and greatness (mad-yoga-vaibhava-jñāpana), which I shall speak out of desire for your good.
- Śrīdharabhakti
Śrī Bhagavān said: O Mahābāhu — you whose long arms are skilled in fulfilling sacred duty (svadharma-anuṣṭhāna) and in great service — hear once more My word, which is supreme in that it is grounded in the Supreme Self (paramātma-niṣṭham). I shall speak it to you who find delight (prīti) in drinking the nectar of My words, out of desire for your welfare.
- Madhusūdanaadvaita-bhakti
Śrī Bhagavān said: Once more, O Mahābāhu, hear My supreme, excellent word. Chapters 7–9 disclosed Bhagavān's tattva — both with upādhi (conditioned) and without upādhi (unconditioned) — and His vibhūtis were briefly noted there; now they must be elaborated for meditation (dhyāna) on the conditioned form, and the tattva itself restated for jñāna (knowledge of the unconditioned), since it is difficult to know (durvijñeyatvāt). I shall speak it to you who experience delight like drinking nectar, out of desire for your highest good.
